ESG performance, unified around one standard: Quality
Our approach to environmental, social and governance performance follows the same principles that guide our quality systems: clear standards, measurable progress and continuous improvement.
We track performance through a structured ESG platform and hold recognized certifications across each area, giving you clear evidence of how we operate and the same rigor we apply to every study we support.
ISO-accredited systems
Our quality and environmental management systems are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, supporting consistent standards across our operations.
Silver EcoVadis rating
We hold a Silver EcoVadis rating (May 2026), providing an independent, third-party assessment of our sustainability performance.
Independent validation and assurance
Our systems undergo external IT and cyber resilience audits every 18 months, and we hold Cyber Essentials Plus certification for data security.
Reducing environmental impact through measurable action
Reducing our environmental footprint means reducing the impact our operations have on the environment, from the energy we use to the emissions and waste we generate.
We are working to reduce that footprint under a decarbonization plan aligned with our commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative.
Recent action includes moving our fleet from diesel to electric vehicles, with solar panel installation underway to increase our use of renewable energy. We report annually on energy use, emissions and waste and continue to strengthen sustainability across our supply chain.
Responsibility grounded in human impact
Our social commitments reflect the responsibility that comes with our work, our people and the communities around us.
Purpose
Our work starts with donated human tissue and a clear purpose: contributing to research that can change lives, while treating every donation with the responsibility and respect it deserves.
People
Our people make our work possible. We support an inclusive workplace where they can develop and thrive, backed by Real Living Wage accreditation and an annually audited health and safety policy.
Community
Our impact extends beyond our work. Global-facing and proudly rooted in the North East, we support our local community through sponsorship of Sunderland Rugby U13s, Belmont FC U15 Girls, North Shields U8 Reds Girls, Tynemouth Cricket Club and Cramlington Town Women.
How can our ESG commitments support your work?
Our ESG framework shapes how we operate, helping ensure reliable, responsible collaboration from the start.
Accountability built into how we operate
Our governance systems protect quality, data integrity and security while supporting ethical conduct and transparent reporting, including metrics such as gender pay balance.
- Protecting data: We maintain GDPR-compliant data handling, hold Cyber Essentials Plus certification and undergo external IT and cyber resilience audits every 18 months, giving you confidence in how your data is managed and protected.
- Clear accountability: Our ESG team includes a dedicated ESG coordinator, with clear reporting lines, policy ownership and regular review cycles. A whistleblowing policy protects employees who raise concerns, supporting an accountable and responsible culture.
